A legal consultant provides a hassle-free, cost-effective solution but only when needed. A consultant is engaged directly with the sole practitioner, law firm, or in-house legal department as an independent contractor. The engagement can be on an hourly, part-time, or project basis. No risk of recruitment. Fees are "all-inclusive" (no on costs) and compare favourably to the cost of a internal hire. For a comprehensive description of the reasons why you should consider engaging a legal consultant see here.

As you'd expect, rates depend on the scope and duration of the engagement. For private clients, rates are reasonable and typically below market.
For in-house clients, engagements are structured so spend is kept within budget and comparable with a direct hire. Rates start from $150 per hour plus GST.
For law firms, engagements are also structured to ensure margins are maintained and depending on billing rates, often improved.

However, if scope involves no sharing of any identifying or confidential information, then likely not. Either way, this is a great opportunity to explain to your client the benefits and cost-savings when outsourcing. Flex solutions free up your time to focus on the important aspects of your client’s file that require your attention.
We have sample wording for your retainer and a sample letter you can send to your clients seeking their consent.
